Each partner receives a game board with bubbles and array game pieces to place on the game board. Partners sit on opposite sides of a barrier so they can’t see each other’s game board or game pieces. Partner A arranges the array pieces on each bubble of the game board. Then, using only verbal communication, Partner A describes to Partner B which array goes on each bubble so they can make a match. For example, “Put the array that shows four rows and seven columns in the top left bubble.” When they think they have a match, they compare arrangements and celebrate. Students can’t see each other’s pictures so they must scan their own picture carefully, ask questions, describe details, and take the role of the other.
