Each partner receives a bookshelf game board and beginning letter and book game pieces to place on the game board. Partners sit on opposite sides of a barrier so they can’t see each other’s game board or game pieces. Partner A arranges the beginning letter book game pieces on each area of the bookshelf on the game board. Then, using only verbal communication, Partner A describes to Partner B which book goes on each area of the shelf by stating the beginning sound to look for so they can make a match. For example, “Put the book that starts with the letter ‘j’ on the third spot on the second shelf.” When they think they have a match, they compare arrangements and celebrate.
