I am new to Kagan and 5th grade. Just completed a Kagan training, any ideas where to start and what type of lessons to start with?

Congratulations on competing your Kagan training! You have a binder and a textbook of ideas for implementation. My suggestion is start the first day of school with content that is fun - as a classbuilding or teambuilding structure, your choice. When they learn those particular structures, you can use them within your academic lesson too. Remember: content + function + structure (look at your lesson plans and decide when/which structure can carry your content).
Have a great year with 5th graders! Be ready to use lots of structures because they will like the engagement.
Good luck!
