The World Without Math
A good way to learn to appreciate something we have is to speculate about how life would be if we didn’t have it. What would the world be like without math? Without calculators? Without algebra? In this activity, pairs work together to list how the world would be different, then students write their own papers and share them with teammates. This activity helps students see the relevance of various mathematical inventions and concepts, and gives them cognitive practice in cause and effect.
