Middle School Choir Performance Classes

Post by phutson » Thu Sep 05, 2013 5:20 am

I teach 4 middle school choir performance classes, and have been to every Kagan training workshop given in our area. I have the Kagan Music workbook, but find it to be more elementary and instrumental based in nature. My classes are performance based. Do you have ideas for using Kagan strategies in a 50 voiced, gender specific, performance group?

I have seen RallyCoach work very well in choir settings, especially for learning/practicing new music. The A partner sings a portion of the new music while the B partner (Coach) reads the sheet music and checks for accuracy. The Coach can then give immediate feedback to the student singing if any tone or phrasing errors occur. Give it a try and let us know how it goes!
