Kagan in Montessori

Post by Christi Brown » Sun Jan 17, 2010 10:09 am

I am currently working with a Montessori school who have all been trained with Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures. Teachers have done an excellent job of teaching the whole class a structure, for example, Fan-n-Pick, and then allowing students to practice academics using Fan-n-Pick in small groups during their "center time" or "center choices." Quiz Quiz Trade is another structure where teachers have used it as a whole class warm-up for review but with two different levels of questions of difficulty on each card. For example, if a student (9yrs old) pairs up with a student (11yrs old) then that person reads Question A, while the next partner reads question B.
Match Mine is another one that is great for communication skills as well as "choice time."
Hope there are others that will share too! Keep in touch with other ideas! :D
