Class Thermometer

Post by jansam » Tue Oct 25, 2016 10:41 pm

Hi all,
Does anyone have any articles or case studies that back up the use of the Class Thermometer as a 'rewards' system for class building.
Thank you

Hey it's me again!

The class thermometer as you may recall comes out of Chapter 16 MOTIVATION WITHOUT REWARDS AND COMPETITION. It is an idea to modify a reward system. Most reward systems are based on individual performance and so individual reward. Many classrooms then create a pattern of the same students receiving the rewards and the same not. By using a CLASS REWARD system, we take PIES into account. Positive Interdependence (Is my gain your gain?) exists when one student does well, it contributes to the gain of others.

While I am not a researcher either, I quickly Google-d class reward systems and came up with this article: http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/curr301.shtml

Check it out!!
