Is your school interested in becoming a Kagan Model School? If yes, that’s fantastic! Please use the criteria below as your blueprint to becoming a Kagan Model School. After all steps are completed, submit an application to Kagan. If your application suggests your school is ready, a Kagan representative will visit your school. Through classroom observations, interviews, and other appropriate methods the Kagan representative will collect information to help Kagan determine if your school qualifies as a Kagan Model School. You will be awarded Kagan Model School status or the Kagan representative will share with your school what additional steps your school needs to take. We look forward to working with you closer.

    Kagan Model School Criteria

1. All staff has completed the 5-day Cooperative Learning Course.
2. All staff has been coached a minimum of 3 times per year by a Kagan Nationally Certified Trainer.
3. All building administrators have attended the Administrator Blueprint training.
4. The building administrator has attended the Kagan Coaching training.
5. Instructional coaches have attended the Kagan Coaching training.
6. SAM clubs are occurring monthly. During the second year, there are two SAM clubs. One is for new staff and the other is for experienced staff.
7. Building administrators conduct monthly Kagan Coaching observations for every teacher.
8. Instructional coaches conduct monthly Kagan Coaching observations for every teacher.
9. The building administrator utilizes structures in faculty meetings.
10. Instructional coaches model structures in their content areas.
11. All staff has completed the 5-day Multiple Intelligences course.
12. The building site has a written plan in place for new teachers. This plan includes training, coaching, mentoring and follow-up.
13. First, second and third year structures for implementation are determined. After year 3, each teacher establishes individual goals for implementation.
14. Achievement data is tracked and reported to Kagan on a yearly basis.
15. The teachers and administrators continue training and updating in Kagan structures.
