A Lecture About English

A linguistics professor was lecturing to his English class one day. "In English," he said, "A double negative forms a positive. In some languages, though, such as Russian, a double negative is still a negative. However, there is no language wherein a double positive can form a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."

  • The left leg became numb at times and she walked it off.

  • The patient was seen about 4 weeks ago by a physician with a urethral drip.
  • Patient was provoked by the food on her plate.
  • This 14-year-old boy argued with a lawn mower which then attacked him.
  • The patient's past medical history has been remarkably insignificant, with only a 40 pound weight gain in the past 3 days.
  • The patient is a 71-year-old female who fractured her little finger while beating up a cake.
